Are You In Need of a Soul Vacation? {psst…come away with me and a book give away}

canstockphoto6633827I can’t be the only one in desperate need of a soul vacation.

Here are some clues you are in need of rest in your spirit and soul:

  • Striving, going nonstop and getting nowhere but frustrated
  • Fear and anxiety are taking over your heart and mind from life’s circumstances
  • Your anxiety is causing you to take deep breaths and you are exhaling mental, spiritual and physical exhaustion

If you are feeling any of these things will you stop right now, get in a quiet place, and get alone with God and these scriptures? I promise if you will give God just a few minutes He will do more for your soul today than any vacation could ever do.

Now I know some of these scriptures you’ve read before many times, but ask the Lord to help you see them in a new way.

Psalm 23:1-3

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures,

He leads me beside quiet waters,

He restores my soul.

Psalm 63

O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.

My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night. Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings.

Friend,

They believe David wrote this last Psalm while in the desert, alone and running from his enemies. He knew God was his refuge despite his circumstances.

Is your soul in need of rest? Is your spirit in a place of angst?

Will you go? You can go into His arms no matter where you are and find His help and shelter. Get in a quiet place and let Him speak these truths over you:

  •  His love for you is enough.
  • You don’t have to strive to be good enough, you already are because you are His. Let that sink in. Your identity is not found in what you do, what you own, or whom you please.
  • Your identity is sealed in Christ and what He did for you on the cross. His arms and love are your refuge. His love will satisfy you more than any food, job, vacation or person ever will.
  • Unclench your fists. Surrender Control. Your life is safe in His hands.

Unclench your fists

Go and rest in His arms. The safest, most soul fulfilling place to be.

power of resting imageYesterday I picked up a book that has been sitting on my shelf for two months. I really wanted to read it but, I didn’t have time I told myself. I have things I’m striving towards and wanting to get accomplished and I didn’t want to take time to read. UNTIL..

I got so frustrated and disappointed with life not giving me results that my soul was desperate for.

So, I picked up The Power of Resting by Daveda Schmidlin and I sat in my chair and cried. I’m telling you this is a life changing, God breathed book! This is the message my heart was needing to hear for such a long time, it broke some chains off me and I fell right into my Father’s arms. Striving leads us nowhere but to frustration. Resting and trusting in God? Satisfies our souls.

So, here’s the giveaway:

The first ten people to subscribe and leave a comment on my blog, I’m going to draw a name and give  away a free copy of The Power of Resting.

My sweet friend Daveda also has an awesome blog you can follow and some awesome podcasts you can listen to!  You can check them out here: gracetalkwithdaveda.com
