The Gift {A Magical Christmas Story for Anyone that Feels Forgotten}

She knew just what she wanted to say, she’d been thinking and planning for days. Every night she’d go over it in her head, so she wrote the letter and this is what it said:

abbys-letter

When Christmas morning arrived Abby laid in bed and prayed, “God please let today be the day.” She opened her eyes and tiptoed out of bed, as a sudden realization popped into her head.

Was her dad out there and would they be meeting?? It felt her heart out of her chest was beating! She stopped in the mirror discouraged by what she found, her hair all a mess and her eyes plainly brown.

She tried to fix her hair as best as she could, looking in the mirror straightening her back as she stood. She slowly rounded the corner her eyes darting around, she did not see a soul but was surprised by what she found.

There under the tree was a brown package wrapped with a beautiful red bow and the lights from the tree made it sparkle and glow.

She sat down and stared wondering what could this be? Is this my father’s gift to me? She opened the package gently tearing the ends, then peered inside and was surprised once again.

It was a letter also wrapped with a red bow, so she untied it very carefully and slow. So many thoughts and questions were racing through her head, so she unfolded the letter and this is what it said:

abbys-letter-from-god-finished

letter-from-god-fixed

As Abby closed the letter her mom was at her side, they wrapped their arms around one another and softly cried.

They knew it wouldn’t be easy and at times very hard, but the one who created the universe, heavens and stars– was watching over them and would carry them through, and they knew with His help there was nothing they couldn’t do.

They both thanked God for Abby’s most precious gift, a prayer that had been answered from a little girl’s wish. Santa did not bring her dad, but she knew she’d be okay, she had still received a miracle on Christmas day.

She had heard from her Father, the one she thought she never had, and finally found the one she could call, “Dad.”

This is her story and I hope you can see, the Father we all have if we trust and believe. He left us all a love letter with His words in His book and we will find truth and life if only we’ll look.

No need to keep looking, no need to wish, His love this year is our free gift.

Merry Christmas.

  1. A very beautiful poem and I think many people will relate to it. I don’t think we realize just how much our heavenly father loves and treasures us.
